Follow Measure FD Results Throughout Election Night
Brothers and Sisters,
Today is the culmination of years worth of work that resulted in Measure FD which will:
- Provide an additional $345 million per year in dedicated LAFD funding (this number will increase each year)
- Protect existing funding levels through a Maintenance of Effort clause
- Mandate that all dollars be spent ONLY on core LAFD services
- Last in perpetuity unless ended by a future voter initiative
Measure FD is not only the most important initiative in the history of the LAFD, it’s the most consequential local government effort ever undertaken in the fire service nationwide. The dedicated funding, overall amounts, Maintenance of Effort protections, and no sunset provision, all happening in the second largest city in America, have put us in a position to truly make history tonight. No other fire department has done anything of this magnitude – and UFLAC has led the way.

You can follow Measure FD results live tonight by visiting the LA VOTE website and scrolling down to Los Angeles City General Municipal Election – Measure FD.
The first results are expected around 9:00 p.m. tonight and will continue to update throughout the evening until about 2:00 a.m. Wednesday morning. As a reminder, the LA County Registrar-Recorder will give daily updates starting on Wednesday, November 4th and continuing for several days – so tonight’s results won’t be final. However, we expect to have a very good sense for where Measure FD stands by the end of the night.
Thank you to everyone who helped out with this historic campaign. It’s in the voters’ hands now, and we trust that they will support their LAFD Firefighters and Paramedics so that we can finally fix our fire department.
In Solidarity,
UFLAC Executive Board
